Venus 2013

In the end of September there were foggy nights but bright, sunny daytime. The weather presented a great opportunity to noble rot and a long, slow period for the Riesling to ripen. On October 8, 2013, we selected clusters which were at least one third botrytised. After a day-long maceration we got a concentrated juice with high acidity. The fermentation started in four oak barrels and was stopped when it showed an elegant acid-sugar-body-alcohol balance.

The birth of the wine was accompanied by the Venus from the bright October sky. The wine was named after this conjunction that reminds us of the Goddess of Love.

Recommended temperature: 18 Cº

Tasting notes

On the nose: elegant flowers, honey, apricot and pear mixing with oak
